Born and raised in Vancouver, DJ Arems started off as a battle DJ at the age of 15 but soon got into party rocking and made his club debut at the age of 18 in Victoria, BC under the eye of Vancouver Island legend Degree One while attending UVic. Always a fan of Funk, R&B, Soul and True School Hip Hop, Arems soon got into Reggae and Dancehall which heavily influenced his style of play and changed his musical repertoire. In 2001 he helped form the Faction Sound Crew out of Vancouver, BC. The Team (Tanner, Akshun, Iron Lyon, Arems and Hype Man Trigga) set their sights on destroying dance floors at any club they played in, as well a releasing a flurry of mixtapes on a global scale around the world.

That mission was accomplished and you can now catch Arems and the Faction Sound crew Djing around the world including  at Caribana in Toronto, Paris, Belgium, Germany, as well as Canada’s top cities. Past cities he has djed in include: Shanghai, LA, Hong Kong,  San Francisco, New York, Taipei, Belgium, Toronto, Oakland, Montreal and Las Vegas.

Along with touring, mixtapes have always been a big focus for DJ Arems as he has released 4 mix Cds per year for the last five years. Many of these mix CDs have gone on to be sold around the world. In 2007 he was nominated Mixtape DJ of the Year at the Stylus DJ Awards. One of the biggest Mixtapes to date is the Faction Sound Crew & 4Korners CD : Facts & Figures which blends high energy Electro Mash ups with some of the top club jams and remixes out today (a must have for any Mixtape or club junkie) which was nominated for mixtape of the year at 2008 Stylus DJ Awards!

In 2008, after being nominated for Canadian Reggae DJ of the Year, Mixtape of the Year and Vancouver DJ of the Year, Arems was voted Vancouver’s Favourite DJ for his DJ skills and club rocking abilities by Canada’s Top DJ Awards – the Stylus DJ Awards. 2009 saw the Faction Sound Crew nominated Canadian Club DJs of the Year and Arems once again nominated Vancouver DJ of the Year. The nominations kept coming for 2010 and Arems has once again been nominated Vancouver DJ of the Year for 2011.
